Introduction

This atlas contains a series of maps based on the 2010 Census. The atlas will grow as more maps are produced.

Geographic detail

Economic Region
The Economic Regions are the regions used by Empire State Development and the NY Department of Labor for their regional planning and analysis.
County / Subcounty
Subcounties are towns and cities that make up the counties. The map show the full detail on the subcounty level with a small inset on the county level.
Tract in City
For some of the map subjects we produced maps for the larger cities in NY. The geographic detail is the Census Tract.

Instructions

On the top left there are two tabs: "Index" and "Map". Clicking on these toggles between the "Index view" and the "Map view". When you select a map, the "Map view" will automatically be selected. You have to click on "Index" to get back to the "Index view".

Index view - The little indicates that there is a map for that subject (the row) and for that geographic detail (the column). Clicking on it opens that map.
There is a dropdown menu to select your city of interest on top of that column.
The green rectangle indicates the map that is currently in the "Map view".

Map view - In the "Map view" you are looking at a smaller version of the map. The bigger version is large .jpg file (2-3Mb). When you click on the map that larger version is opened in your browser. Most browsers try to fit that large .jpg in your window and you have to click again to see all detail. A right-click on the map gives you an option to save a copy of the map to your local computer. Keep in mind that when you do that in the "Map view" you will save the smaller version of the map.
You can browse through the atlas by clicking on the blue arrows underneath the map. You will be presented with the next available map for the same geographic detail. There is also a dropdown menu to change the geographic detail. You can only choose those details for which a map with the same subject is available.
